In light of the COVID-19 situation, we wanted to provide an update with as much as we know about the spring soccer season of today, March 13, 2020. Of course, the health, safety and well-being of SCOR families is paramount to us all.
SCOR has and will continue to follow the direction set by Ridgefield Public Schools, the Town of Ridgefield as well as Connecticut Junior Soccer Association (CJSA), our governing body. As announced yesterday, Ridgefield Public Schools are closed until further notice and it is unknown when they might reopen.
We have received the following message from CJSA today:
Effective Friday, March 13, 2020, Connecticut Junior Soccer Association is suspending all affiliated and sanctioned soccer activities statewide through April 15 due to the evolving COVID-19 situation. For our member organizations (towns, clubs and leagues) this includes, but is not limited to: all games, practices, clinics, training, ODP, tournaments, in-person meetings and Coaching Education Courses.
We have received the following message from CCSL/NYCSL (Premier travel) this week:
With the increase in cases of the COVID-19 virus in the greater NY area, the NYCSL & CCSL has suspended all matches for all competitions until further notice. The safety of our players, coaches, referees and spectators are our number one priority. We will continue to monitor and accesses the situation on a going forward basis.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation in this unsettling environment.
In an abundance of caution, we are canceling the following:
March 23 – Travel Player meeting
March 26 – Travel Managers meeting
March 28 – Spring SCOR Members Clinic
As previously announced, the SCOR season planned to begin on April 13 for House and Academy. However, due to the CJSA suspension of all soccer activities until April 15, this will be our start date if nothing changes before then. Noting that, Southwest District travel will not begin until April 19 at the earliest. As we are provided further information, we will continue to review and assess and will continue to provide updates to our SCOR families.
