What is Academy?
The SCOR Academy program is designed to provide young players, ages 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11 with a development intensive environment in which individual initiative, creativity, risk-taking, experimentation, skill development and individual tactical understanding are emphasized over learning positions, systems of play, and league results. The Academy program is a bridge between SCOR's House and Travel programs and is designed to prepare players for the transition from a recreational to a more competitive environment. The SCOR Academy has five levels:
- Academy 7 (born in 2012)*
- Academy 8 (born in 2011)*
- Academy 9 (born in 2010 or 2011)*
- Academy 10 (born in 2009)*
- Academy 11 (born in 2008)*
The Academy 7 and Academy 8 programs are integrated with SCORs House program. Each player enrolled in the SCOR first and second grade Academy program will be automatically registered as a player on a First or Second Grade Division House team. First graders will train with their Academy I group during the week and play with their House team on weekends. Second graders will train with their Academy II group once per week, train with their House team once per week, and play with their House team on weekends.
The Academy 9 is a full immersion program players train twice a week in their Academy groups and play on weekends on their Academy teams in a SCOR Academy League, all under the constant supervision and direction of the SCOR Coaching Director and the Academy Staff Coaches. The Academy III provides a highly competitive environment designed to prepare players for Travel or Premier soccer. All Academy players play in the SCOR Challenge CUP a fun, small-sided tournament event.
Any player enrolled in Academy 7, Academy 8, Academy 10 or Academy 11 will be automatically registered as a player on a 1st grade, 2nd grade, 3/4th grade or 5/6th grade House team, respectively. Please note that Academy 7 and Academy 8 players will be distributed across House teams, while Academy 10 and Academy 11 players will be grouped together into a team(s) within their respective House divisions.

Safety
All players must wear proper equipment including soccer cleats (no football or baseball which have a toe cleat) and properly sized shin guards. No jewelry is permitted; earrings are not allowed to be taped and must be removed for practice and play. The only exceptions are medical bracelets and necklaces which are required for player safety. In these cases, the bracelet or necklace must be secured (taped) to prevent injuries. Please see the SCOR No Jewelry Policy for full details.
Uniform
All participants in the Academy 9,10,11 program will be required to purchase a uniform kit (2 game jerseys, practice jersey, shorts, 2 socks), approximately $135. The uniform is used throughout Academy and Travel and will only have to be repurchased when the player grows out of it or in the event that SCOR changes the uniform style. Uniforms are purchased exclusively at Soccer & Rugby Imports. Players in Academy 7 and 8 will be provided with SCOR t-shirts for practice and play.
